Retirement planning is about more than just accumulating wealth.All the money in the world won’t bring you happiness Unless there’s a way to enjoy it. Similarly, no amount of money can buy you perfect health. However, there are things you can do now to extend your healthy life after retirement. Some cost money, some don’t.

I had breakfast with an amazing woman who has been battling breast cancer for most of the past six years. She maintained an amazingly positive attitude, but what she went through in terms of treatment, from surgery to radiation to chemotherapy and everything that comes with these treatments, was my biggest enemy. I don’t want that. Her life has been practically interrupted for six years.

Money helped her fight cancer, but no amount of money (by itself) can prevent her from getting cancer. I don’t even want to think about all the costs associated with caring for her over the years. She gave me some health care tips to help build my immune system and overall health during this difficult time. They were all the same recommendations for healthier living that I heard on several podcasts.

Atia and his expert guests cover topics related to a person’s physical, cognitive, and emotional health. The goal is not just to live a long life. A while back, I read the book “The Genius Life: Heal Your Mind, Strengthen Your Body, Become Extraordinary” by Max Lugavelles. I recently stumbled upon his podcast while looking for a show with one of his guests. With 331 episodes and more to come, this podcast covers many topics that will help you improve your life and perhaps create your own genius life.

Hopefully, with the help of his show, the genius may be able to develop healthier habits for his retirement.

I enjoy this podcast where Dr. Mark Hyman takes a functional approach to healthcare. Most of us go to the doctor and continue our unhealthy habits even if we don’t have any illness (yet). The majority of Americans are overeating and undernourished. We consume enough calories, but not enough nutrients.

Extra Credit: Go for a walk and turn on a podcast episode. You can train your body and mind at the same time.
